Life @ the enD of August

Boo-yeah! School started! Mmmm-hmmm, school started!  It's my birthday!  Not really, but school started!
The kids were excited :)
Cami is in 4th grade and Alex is in 2nd.  At the beginning of the year they are ready for school... by half way, they're counting down til the end.  You can't beat elementary school though.  It's a fun season for education :).
We also have 2 new additions to the Anderson zoo.  My sister's fiance, well husband now, didn't want birds in their bedroom while they were rooming at my parents house til they have to go to college in the spring.  So she asked us to take them.  You know what the kids answer was! They would take any animal in a heart beat :).  So now we have 2 parakeets... Zeus (the white one) and Hopper (the green one).  Kids love them.  And most likely they will be permanent guests. :)
And our garden has taken off!  It has been a big project but the final result has been rewarding.  Everything is blooming and I'm trying to make sure most of it is put to good use.  Carson LOVES to harvest.  Him and any of his little buddies that have come over will spend a good hour out there finding produce that is ready.  It's so cute :)
I've canned pickles for the first time, so we'll see how they turn out... kind of biting my nails about that one.  But fresh summer produce from the garden is the best.  Jeremy says next place we go, we'll have to have at least an acre of land, so he can plant his fruit trees too. :)

June Wedding

In June, Jeremy went to Alaska for his best friends wedding.  And what a trip!  Unfortunately, certain aspects of life clouded my rational judgment and I stayed home with the children.  Nonetheless, Jeremy was able to go and I'm so glad he did!!  Now I will probably not come close to justify this amazing trip Jeremy took, but I will do my best.

Jeremy's best friend and his wife
Travis and Amanda King
So when they first got into Anchorage, Alaska, Jeremy and the Kings checked out downtown.
Tommi and Tori  liking the view :)
They had neat native looking murals around town.
In Alaska they have to LOCK their garbage cans to keep critters out.  And I don't mean the squirrels or even the raccoons.  But even the Bears!  You can see holes on the side of the garbage can where some bear tried getting in.
This was the place all the Kings and Jeremy stayed in.  Gorgeous!
The pretty Alaskan view from their deck
They went on a hike near by and explored the glacier waters.  Nature in Alaska is majestic.  With it's green vegetation and icy mountains is breath taking.
Superman!  Don't let go Jer!
Glacier waterfall run off.  Aiden, Travis' son, and Jeremy posed in front.
A closer look.  It looks like a frozen ocean wave ready to tumble down.  Beautiful!

On one of the days there, Travis hooked Jeremy up with an Alaskan fishing trip.  The cool thing about that is he got to see trained bald eagles swoop down for a meal.  They hang out of the perch, and when they hear a whistle they come down for a catch.

Amazing!
On the wedding day, they took a ferry out to a near by island.  Jeremy couldn't help but take hold of the captain chair :)  He looks good!
Two handsome men!!  Aiden and Jeremy
TyLeen, Spencer, and Tanelle visiting on the ferry ride
This was the lodge that the wedding took place at

Travis, Spencer, Ron, and Jeremy
Jeremy was one of the groomsmen.  He has great memories with Travis and have stayed connected ever since.  We love him and the Kings.  We count ourselves blessed to be a part of their lives.
Holly, Travis, Amanda, and Ron
Their colors with bright blue and green and everyone was given an umbrella and case with their names and wedding date scripted on the the case.  What a clever idea!
The beautiful bride trying to stay dry.  Look how happy she is :)
Ron and his youngest Tommi
Sisters :) Tommi and Tanelle
Amanda and Travis dancing with their children, Aiden and Avery.
Cutting the cake
The next day they did some shopping, and Avery helped Jeremy pick some things out for the kids and I.  She did good :)
The day Jeremy left, one of Amanda's close friends flew everyone out to their lodge for lunch.
Ice everywhere!! The view from the plane.
Spencer and TyLeen
Amanda at breakfast
They hiked to another waterfall close to the lodge
They are adding to the lodge and are doing it by themselves!  These are some of the logs they will use.
And this is where they are starting, what a project!
After the breakfast they headed back for the plane.  What a trip!

And once again, Jeremy tried out the captain seat, ready to fly home to Prosser to share his adventure with us:)  Thank you Alaska! Thank you Travis and Amanda!  He had an amazing time!
