ChicKeNs tO thE RescUe!

Lately we've been getting some daily visitors. First we sent our dog after them... then the kids... then we realized, why not make friends! :) So with our plethora of corn we decided to welcome them and embrace them (well not literally anyway).
Cami and Alex will be outside for HOURS just feeding the chickens. They just get a kick out of it!

I was slightly amazed at how accurate they were in pecking at each kernal.
They'd even jump up to get some... Jeremy took this perfect action shot. :)
After it was all said and done, this is what the cob looks like... just picked completely clean! And after this they fed the leftovers to the cows and horses. Who would of thought these visitors would be so fun!
P.S. If you are looking for a good children's book I would recommend "Chickens to the Rescue" by John Himmelman. Our friend recommend it to us and the kids loved it! ( Thanks Jaime).

That is so random! But if it keeps the kids entertained then those chickens are "a-ok!"

Thats awesome! Im not sure if my boys would be freaked out or freak the chickens out. My mom had a duck lay eggs in their backyard, they hatched, then last weekend we went swimming at their house and the next day they were long gone for good.

That's hilarious! What fun neighbors to have...and with such ideal pecking ability.

We had a rogue chicken randomly visiting our backyard a couple of years ago. It wouldn't leave! Finally, we had an animal control guy and my brother-in-law chasing it around the yard. He finally left peacefully but the memory of those two grown men chasing it around makes me laugh whenever I think about it!
